Help Stamford CT pass LR31.091
Our Surfrider Connecticut Chapter is supporting the Ordinance LR31.091, to Ban Single-Use Plastic Products in Food and Beverage Establishments.
The chapter sumbitted public commentary to the Stamford Board of Represenatives in support of this ordinance.
The Connecitcut chapter hosts cleanups across the entire state, 12 months out of the year. Single-use plastics are among the most persistent and harmful forms of pollution. Items like plastic utensils, straws, stirrers, and polystyrene containers are consistently among the top debris collected during their beach cleanups. These products are used for mere minutes yet persist in the environment for hundreds of years, breaking down into microplastics that contaminate our waterways and enter the food chain.
On Earth Day, Tuesday, April 22 205, the chapter partnered with Stamford based Rhone clothing company and removed 85 lbs. of plastic trash from Czescik Marina Park. The amount of single-use disposable plastic entangled in the seagrass was staggering. Their chapter volunteers are committed to turning off the plastic tap.
